Subaru owners likely to win compensation and warranty boost for oil-burning Subaru engines

According to the Reports, Subaru owners who have defective engines will be able to win compensation and or warranty boost for their engines used in Subaru outback, Forester, Legacy, Impreza and even Crosstek. If any of these car models burn more than usual oil will be entitled for the compensation.

Reports reveals that owners of the Subaru cars with defective engines will be repaid by Subaru for costs related to the deficiency and given a longer warranty or any other compensation.

What was the lawsuit?

The lawsuit alleged that the Subaru engines with defective piston rings are consuming extra engine oil than usual and that Subaru knew everything but they didn’t disclose the problem to the owners of Subaru models.

According to the reports, lawsuit alleges that Subaru has improperly denied many warranties and repairs and even they have made changes in their scope of warranty cover without informing the owners who have effected engines.

What is the current situation?

Currently, owners are suffering a lot and paying extra bills to repair their engines and faulty piston rings out of their own pockets.

It is very annoying for the owners to pay the extra bills even they have valid warranties.

What Subaru says now?

According to the reports, to make good with its customers, Subaru agreed to the following terms.

  • Subaru has increased the warranty length from 5 years or 60,000 miles to 8 years or 100,000 miles instantly.
  • Subaru will also pay 100 percent cost of repairs, parts or labour, rental cars and towing etc. they will also pay the cost of up to six quarts of engine oil to every effected vehicle.
  • Automaker will offer a free oil consumption test service and technical check for the owners of the defective cars.
